Opening New Pathways to STEM Careers in the Built Environment for Cambodian Students

Tech for Kids Academy is pleased to announce a new collaboration with Class Of Your Own Limited (COYO) from the United Kingdom to support Cambodian schools to participate in the international Design Engineer Construct! Racetrack Challenge. This collaboration marks an exciting step in TKA’s mission to connect Cambodian students with global future-skills opportunities, practical project-based learning, and real-world challenges that develop creativity, teamwork, sustainability thinking, digital confidence and problem-solving. Through this first phase, TKA will support Cambodia-facing mobilisation for the Racetrack Challenge by helping schools understand the opportunity, coordinating local communication, identifying translation and localisation needs, supporting student participation where appropriate, and engaging relevant industry volunteers and supporters. Participating schools will register directly through the official COYO Challenge platform and access the established DEC School resource centre, including the official challenge brief, webinars, technical support resources and related materials provided by COYO. Why This Matters for Cambodia Cambodia is entering a new phase of growth where young people need more than classroom knowledge. They need opportunities to apply what they learn to real-world problems connected to design, engineering, infrastructure, technology, sustainability and the built environment. The Design Engineer Construct! Racetrack Challenge provides a practical entry point for students to explore these areas through a global challenge format. For TKA, this was not just another international conference. It was a strategic milestone in our journey to position Cambodia as an emerging-market model for coding education, AI literacy, digital skills, teacher development, and education-to-employment pathways. The programme included sessions such as Building the Computing Educator Pipeline, Impact at Scale: Aligning with Governments to Institutionalise AI and Computing Education, Empowering Africa’s Digital Future: Insights from the Code Club Accelerator Programme, and Unlocking What Exists: Turning Idle Devices into Engines of Learning. These themes strongly align with TKA’s work in Cambodia, where the challenge is not only access to devices or curriculum, but the full system needed to make digital learning sustainable: teachers, localized content, school leadership, government collaboration, community ownership, and student pathways. One of the strongest reflections I took from Cambridge is that technology alone does not transform education. Transformation happens when young people are supported by trained educators, relevant learning resources, safe environments, and pathways to apply what they learn in real life. This is exactly the ecosystem TKA is working to build in Cambodia. Presenting Cambodia’s Code Club Journey During Raspberry Fields, I was honored to deliver a session titled: Code Club Nationally: Building a 60-School Ecosystem in an Emerging Market In this session, I shared TKA’s journey of scaling Code Clubs across Cambodia and how we are moving from individual school-based clubs toward a broader national learning ecosystem. TKA is proud to be an Official Code Club Partner working with the Raspberry Pi Foundation to bring world-class open learning resources to Cambodian students. Our partnership has already helped establish Code Clubs across the country, reaching students in both urban and rural communities with hands-on coding and digital skills learning. TKA’s previous announcement highlighted our role in turning global curriculum into local impact through our operational experience, community connections, and school partnerships. In my presentation, I shared a practical framework for scaling Code Club in an emerging-market context: Identify school readiness and local champions Train teachers and youth mentors Localize learning materials and classroom examples Launch clubs with structured project pathways Support schools through coaching and communities of practice Connect learners to showcases, competitions, mentorship, internships, and future careers The key message was simple: Code Club should not only be a place where children learn to code. It should become the first step in a larger pathway from education to employment, entrepreneurship, and lifelong innovation. From Coding Clubs to Education-to-Employment At TKA, our vision is to build a full learning journey for young people: Code Club → project portfolio → student showcase → mentorship → internship → entrepreneurship or employment This is the future we are working toward. We want students to start with Scratch, Python, Micro:bit, web development, AI literacy, and problem-solving projects. Then we want them to progress into real-world innovation challenges, national showcases, mentorship, and eventually pathways into university, startups, employment, or their own ventures. Cambodia has a young, energetic population. The opportunity is not only to teach digital skills, but to build a national talent pipeline that prepares young people to participate in the digital economy with confidence. Why This Matters for Cambodia Cambodia’s education system is entering a critical period of digital transformation. Students are curious. Schools are increasingly interested. Government and development partners recognize the importance of future-ready skills. But scaling computing education requires more than ambition. It requires: trained educators, localized Khmer learning resources, affordable and practical technology, safe and inclusive learning environments, stronger public-private collaboration, and long-term pathways beyond the classroom. This is where TKA sees its role: to serve as a bridge between global resources and local implementation. Our work with Code Club, digital skills education, AI literacy, STEM, entrepreneurship, and student innovation is part of a larger mission to build a human empowerment ecosystem for Cambodia and the region. Bringing the Global Conversation Back to Phnom Penh: RISE Week 2026 The momentum from Cambridge will continue in Cambodia through RISE Week 2026, taking place on 25–26 July 2026 in Phnom Penh. RISE Week is TKA’s capstone event celebrating young innovators from flagship programmes including Technovation x Future Digital Talents, and other youth innovation programmes. បច្ចុប្បន្ន បញ្ញាសិប្បនិម្មិត (Artificial Intelligence – AI) កំពុងរីកសាយភាយ និងដើរតួនាទីយ៉ាងសំខាន់ក្នុងវិស័យអប់រំក្នុងល្បឿនដែលយើងនឹកស្មានមិនដល់។ AI មានសមត្ថភាពអាចសរសេរអត្ថបទ រចនារូបភាព គណនាលេខ និងដោះស្រាយបញ្ហាស្មុគស្មាញបានក្នុងរយៈពេលត្រឹមតែប៉ុន្មានវិនាទីប៉ុណ្ណោះ។ សម្រាប់កុមារជំនាន់ក្រោយ AI មិនមែនជាបច្ចេកវិទ្យាអនាគតដ៏ឆ្ងាយទៀតឡើយ ប៉ុន្តែវាបានក្លាយជាផ្នែកមួយនៃជីវិតប្រចាំថ្ងៃ ដែលសឹងតែហាក់ដូចជាធម្មជាតិទៅហើយ។

កាលពីពេលថ្មីៗនេះ ក្នុងកិច្ចពិភាក្សាដ៏មានសារៈសំខាន់មួយក្រោមប្រធានបទ «ពលរដ្ឋឌីជីថល៖ ការកសាងសង្គមប្រកបដោយបរិយាបន្នតាមរយៈការអប់រំ និងជំនាញ» លោក ពិដោរ លីដែត នាយកប្រតិបត្តិ និងជាស្ថាបនិកនៃ Tech for Kids Academy (TKA) បានចូលរួមចែករំលែកនូវទស្សនៈវិស័យស៊ីជម្រៅអំពីការរៀបចំកម្ពុជាឱ្យត្រៀមខ្លួនសម្រាប់សតវត្សទី២១។

នៅក្នុងបរិបទនៃបរិវត្តកម្មឌីជីថល ការបណ្ដុះបណ្ដាលយុវជនឱ្យមានសមត្ថភាពលើផ្នែកបច្ចេកវិទ្យា គឺជាគ្រឹះដ៏សំខាន់សម្រាប់ការអភិវឌ្ឍសង្គមជាតិ។ កម្មវិធី Technovation Girls Cambodia x Future Digital Talents ត្រូវបានរៀបចំឡើងជារៀងរាល់ឆ្នាំ ដើម្បីផ្ដល់នូវវេទិកាមួយដែលអនុញ្ញាតឱ្យយុវជនកម្ពុជាបានសិក្សា បញ្ចេញសមត្ថភាព និងស្វែងរកដំណោះស្រាយសម្រាប់បញ្ហាក្នុងសហគមន៍ តាមរយៈបច្ចេកវិទ្យា និងសហគ្រិនភាព។

នៅតាមតំបន់ដាច់ស្រយាលនៃប្រទេសកម្ពុជា សិស្សានុសិស្សជាច្រើនតែងជួបប្រទះនូវការសម្រេចចិត្តដ៏លំបាកបំផុតមួយ គឺជម្រើសរវាង ”ការបន្តការសិក្សា” និង ”ការបោះបង់ចោលសាលារៀន” ដោយសារកង្វះខាតធនធានក្នុងគ្រួសារ។ ដើម្បីឆ្លើយតបនឹងបញ្ហានេះ ចាប់តាំងពីខែវិច្ឆិកាកន្លងទៅ ក្រុមការងារ Tech for Kids Academy និង មូលនិធិ PEACH (PEACH Foundation USA) បានចុះបំពេញបេសកកម្មរួមគ្នានៅខេត្តសៀមរាប ដើម្បីនាំយកនូវក្តីសង្ឃឹម និងឱកាសសិក្សាថ្មីៗជូនដល់ប្អូនៗសិស្សានុសិស្ស។

បន្ទាប់ពីបានបញ្ចេញសមត្ថភាព និងភាពច្នៃប្រឌិតដ៏គួរឱ្យចាប់អារម្មណ៍របស់សិស្សានុសិស្សទាំង ១០០ រូប នៅក្នុងកម្មវិធី Young Founders Summit Phnom Penh ដែលបានប្រព្រឹត្តទៅកាលពីថ្ងៃទី ០២ ខែវិច្ឆិកា ឆ្នាំ២០២៥ កន្លងទៅនេះ យុវជនឆ្នើមទាំង ៩ រូប ត្រូវបានជ្រើសរើសជាផ្លូវការដើម្បីបន្តបេសកកម្មរបស់ខ្លួនទៅកាន់ Bootcamp នៅប្រទេសសិង្ហបុរី ចាប់ពីថ្ងៃទី ១៨ ខែធ្នូ ឆ្នាំ២០២៥ នេះតទៅ។
