Technology knowledge is an indispensable foundation for the future. Instead of worrying about uncertainty, youth should choose to study and learn to use it skillfully.
In the era of digital transformation, training youth to become "tech creators" is a primary mission for human resource development in Cambodia. Last Wednesday afternoon, the "Online Orientation Session" of the Technovation Girls Cambodia x Future Digital Talents (TCxFDT) program was organized with a large turnout, featuring participation from leaders of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport, teachers, and over 150 students filled with energy and hope.
The atmosphere of this gathering was not just about sharing information, but was a demonstration of the solidarity within the education community, united by a single will: to build a confident digital future for every Cambodian youth.
Technovation Girls Cambodia is well-known as a program that has actively contributed to empowering Cambodian female students in the tech sector for over 10 years. Through this rich experience and continuous success, the program has continued to evolve more broadly; since last year, the “Future Digital Talents” initiative has transformed this platform into a digital training ground that is open to all Cambodian youth, whether female or male students.
Currently, all students are welcomed to participate in a single standard curriculum to study mobile application development (Mobile App), Artificial Intelligence (AI), and entrepreneurship. Although team formation must be done by gender (girls with girls or boys with boys), this is a single platform that allows all youth to express creativity and solve social problems using their true capabilities.
As Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology plays an increasingly vital role, Ms. Voneat Pen, the Chapter Ambassador, shared a vision: technology knowledge is an indispensable foundation for the future. For her, instead of worrying about uncertainty, youth should choose to study and learn to use it skillfully. Strengthening capacity in this field not only adds value to one's personal future but is a massive contribution to the overall development of the nation, because future opportunities will always be open for youth who dare to learn, change, and have the will to create new achievements.
This message was further reinforced by the words of Mr. Sok Tha, Director of the Digital Transformation Department at the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport:
“The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport is paying close attention to promoting the creation of ‘after-school study clubs,’ and we believe this is one of the best programs for students. It is an opportunity for students, even those who have never had coding experience before, to participate in learning and unleash their full potential in both technology and entrepreneurship under the close guidance of teachers and volunteers.
The 12-week period may seem short, but it is an amazing transformative journey where students will gain knowledge beyond technology—specifically, both business skills and project planning skills, which are essential foundations for future development. This program clearly reflects the joint commitment of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport in opening up a richer study community for students in both public and private schools, providing a place for students to meet, build connections, and collaborate to turn dreams into meaningful achievements for the future.”
As our former participants (Alumni) have shown, the experience from this program does not end with just a competition, but is a valuable long-term asset for self-development.
Specifically, Ms. Chhay Hongmey (the 2024 champion from Team GCodey) has shown that the experience from the TCxFDT program was an essential foundation for her educational journey. The knowledge and achievements gained from this program helped Hongmy receive a scholarship to study at UWC (United World Colleges), a place that provides her the opportunity to continue exploring new potential and study deeply in subjects she loves. Currently, Hongmey is also preparing applications for scholarships to universities in the United States. This is evidence that TCxFDT is a "starting point" that provides both technical knowledge and confidence to pave the way for Cambodian youth to step onto the international stage with conviction.
What is even more special is that the national champion teams this year will receive the opportunity to participate in a study tour abroad. Of even greater pride, for the female student teams named as Global Finalists, they will receive the honor of representing Cambodia to compete in the Technovation World Summit. In previous years, this international forum was always held in the United States, but for 2026, the program will be hosted for the first time in Bengaluru, India.
