Unleashing Potential and Building a Foundation for Digital Literacy Education for Cambodian Youth
On December 02, 2025, the National Technical Training Institute (NTTI) became a platform for over 150 creative and tech-savvy youths to demonstrate their capabilities at the “Code Club Showcase & Coding Challenge Day.”
The event was organized by the Digital Literacy Initiative (DLI), funded by The Dariu Foundation, and implemented by Swisscontact in collaboration with technical partner Tech for Kids Academy. The ceremony was presided over by H.E. Dr. Hing Sideth, Delegate of the Royal Government in charge as Director General of the Directorate General of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (DGTVET), with support from the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport.
This event stands as a testament to the results of the two-year project (2024-2025). The Digital Literacy Initiative (DLI) has acted as a training ground, providing coding education to over 4,000 students and establishing 8 Code Clubs in target high schools and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutes in Siem Reap and Battambang provinces, transforming them from technology consumers into technology creators.
More important than coding proficiency, the project has instilled vital life skills in these students. Through Code Clubs, they have learned teamwork, communication, logical thinking, and the courage to innovate. The works displayed today are not merely electronic devices, but rather reflections of the students' confidence and their dreams of solving societal problems.
